Wytham Woods - There and back again...

For my first training hike in preparation for the upcoming Wainwright Coast-to-Coast journey, I walked from Oxford, along the Thames, to Wytham Woods. Went straight through, took a break, came back the same way. Carried my nearly full 70L pack. Feet were not happy.

Some Highlights:

  • Took a wrong turn on the way there. Serves me right for thinking I know better than GPS satellites. A mistake that added 2 miles to my trip.
  • Dried Mangos are delicious
  • Met a nice British non-physicist (self-professed) on the way back who went very in depth about his favorite crack pot physics theory which, using "singularities" (though I suspect he was using the term in a different way than a physicist would), claims to simultaneously explain:
    • Memory
    • Persistence of Reality
    • Electromagnetic Induction
